Nursing Scholarships

The NSW Department of Health has advised that applications for 2002 Rural and Remote Undergraduate Nursing Scholarships have opened. This news is appropriate especially following the recent industrial action that highlighted the need for, and shortages of nurses in our hospitals. The scholarships are offers of up to $4,000 to first year undergraduate nursing students with a rural background, who meet certain eligibility criteria. Guidelines/application forms are available from my office or from

Roll Over Protection Structure Rebate

As part of a rural safety campaign for regional NSW, the State Government is providing a $200 rebate to assist owners of tractors used on farms who fit a Roll Over Protection Structure (ROPS) during the campaign. An application form needs to be completed with additional information. This Scheme will conclude on 31 December 2001 and I encourage all farmers to consider and participate in this opportunity.
