Pollies for Small Business Day

The Kyogle News May 02

Parliament will break for a winter recess from 28 June and will resume on 3 September. As always I can be contacted at my electorate office on 6621 3624.

Pollies for Small Business Day

During the month of May - which is Small Business Month, I enjoyed the opportunity to undertake `work experience' at various businesses in the Lismore Electorate. In Kyogle, I participated at the IGA Supermarket, meeting many people and it was a great opportunity to renew past experiences, enable my interaction with local small business owners and also meet many people who were not expecting to be greeted by their local member.

Richmond Regional Vegetation Management Plan

A two-day meeting was held to consider the community feedback to the plan after public consultation. Several landholder observers attended the meeting with other representatives. The result of the meeting was positive and after considerable strong debate, most of the community concerns were addressed and a compromise position has been achieved mostly by consensus. At present a socio-economic report is being conducted before finalising the plan.

Mobile Blood Bank

I was pleased to have assisted in the restoring of Red Cross Blood Bank collections in Kyogle, which will be at the A& E Department of the hospital, three monthly commencing on the 27 May. Re-establishment of these services are of great benefit for the community and the Australian Red Cross Blood Bank Collection. It is also an appropriate time to recognise the importance and significance of all donors. Congratulations to all donors and the volunteers associated with the Red Cross Blood Bank Service.

Woodenbong to Legume Road funding

$500,000 funding has been provided to Tenterfield Shire Council to upgrade the Woodenbong to Legume Road. These funds will be matched by Council to provide improvements at two locations and several more curves in the road will be removed with a realignment of the road 2 klms east of Legume.
