JOBS MUST STAY IN LISMORE

3 April 2001

National Party Member for Lismore, Thomas George today gave notice of a motion in Parliament regarding job losses in the Lismore electorate.

Mr George's motion calls on the Premier, Bob Carr, to explain to the Lismore electorate how his Government's post Olympic job plan is assisting them when 24 jobs are moving out of the city from the Department of Sport & Recreation and the NSW Agriculture Chemical Residue laboratory.

"The Premier must intervene to ensure that these 24 jobs are retained in Lismore, as the economic effects could be disastrous, and this comes at a time when regional and rural areas are already suffering tremendously," Mr George said.
