New Years Resolution

21 December 2001

National Party Member for Lismore, Thomas George has outlined that his New Year resolution will be to continue to pursue the Carr Government to meet his challenge and assume responsibility for funding to address local road and health issues.

Allocations are necessary to sustain adequate health services to meet the needs of the Lismore electorate, especially in the areas of mental health and dental provisions.

"The Lismore electorate has benefited from the ongoing Federal Roads to Recovery funding but the Carr Government needs to match the Commonwealth's example and recognise an injection of sufficient funding is the only solution to resolving the deplorable state of the country road network.

"Last, but by no means least, is assistance for builders, rural industries and small business, particularly during this time when it is imperative that the importance and significance of such sectors is realised.

"I am hopeful that assistance will be forthcoming for these resolutions and the needs of the Lismore electorate," concluded Mr George.
