ADDITIONAL MONEY FOR LIONS ROAD

8 March 2002

National Party Member for Lismore Thomas George said he was pleased with the announcement made by the Minister for Roads today which will provide additional funding to Kyogle Council for the Lions Road.

"This $60,000 allocation over two years will assist Council in maintaining and improving this much needed tourist route." Mr George said.

"My congratulations and thanks go to Mr Jack Hurley, Kyogle Lions Club and the community for the hard work and support they do in raising money for this road.

"The Minister's visit also provided me with the opportunity to bring to his attention the problems with pedestrians crossing at Ballina & Keen Streets, in Lismore, the need for a bus turn-around at Kyogle High School and urgently needed work at Kyogle Railway Station.

"Mr Scully has assured me he will investigate these matters in the near future", Mr George concluded.
