Members Become Lions

National Party Members, Mr Thomas George and Mr Don Page have both become Charter Members of the first every State Parliamentary Lion's Club.

At the Charter Dinner held at Parliament House, Sydney on Monday 17 June 2002, both Mr George and Mr Page played a special role.

Mr George, Member for Lismore, a former auctioneer, sold many items on the night which in total raised $42,500.

During proceedings Mr George took the opportunity of informing attendees that Lions in Australia started in Lismore in 1947.

Mr Page, Member for Ballina, who was asked to read the Lions International Objects, noted that whilst he was a new Lion, he was the nephew of Australia's longest surviving Lion, Mr Doug Page, from Lismore.
