The Nationals Member for Lismore Thomas George, today said he would be closely scrutinising this year's State Budget, which is due to be handed down on Tuesday 22 June.

"I have been continually pursuing concerning projects in the Electorate that require additional or new funding," Mr George said.

Mr George will be particularly looking for the Carr Government's support for the following -
an announcement regarding the Radiotherapy Unit, as well as funding/support for the Cardiac Cath Lab, both in Lismore
a new police station for Lismore and further improvements to the Casino station;
additional road funding; projects such as the Legume to Woodenbong Road, Summerland Way & Bruxner Highway;
increased and additional funding for schools to assist with minor and major works;
financial assistance for country halls and showgrounds;
recognition of much needed funding increases for preschools;
increase in funding for dental health services;
support for redevelopment of the rehabilitation unit.

"I call on the Carr Government to provide assistance to these projects. I would also like to see a decrease in payroll tax and workers compensation premiums. This is well and truly overdue, and will assist local businesses, in particular those close to and competing with those in Queensland," Mr George concluded.
