$38,347 FOR 4 LISMORE ELECTORATE SPORTING ORGANISATIONS

1 April 2005

Thomas George, Nationals Member for Lismore says four Lismore electorate sporting organisations will certainly benefit from $38,347 worth of assistance as announced by the Minister for Tourism and Sport and Recreation, The Hon Sandra Nori, under the 2004/2005 Capital Assistance Program.

"This program is one of the most important avenues of assistance for local sporting organisations. It will assist with the enhancement and future development of community sporting and recreational facilities in this area.

The following projects to benefit from this year's funding are:

$8,210 for the construction of a tennis shed at Federal Community Centre Park $8,669 for the provision of installed playground equipment at Peace Park $4,468 for the provision of a basketball/netball half court and playground area at Wadeville Reserve Trust $17,000 for the improvement of access, safety and security to existing clubhouse at Newpark Football Grounds, Kyogle

The specific aim of the program is to work in partnership with the general sporting community and to support those groups who have shown they are prepared to help themselves.

"The provision of these funds is an integral part of recognising the importance of regional recreational facilities in supporting and encouraging a healthy and safe lifestyle for the rural people of NSW," Mr George concluded.
