The Nationals Member for Lismore, Thomas George is inviting employers to a business forum at the Lismore Workers Club this Tuesday, 12 April 2005 from 5.30 to 7.30 pm to discuss the Government's proposed Workplace Fatalities Bill.

The meeting, supported by Australian Business Limited, Lismore Unlimited, Chambers of Commerce and Business Enterprise Centres will provide information about the Bill and its implications for employers.

In State Parliament last week, NSW Leader of The Nationals, Andrew Stoner, called on the Carr Labor Government to immediately scrap its proposed Workplace Fatalities Bill.

Mr George said the legislation was direct attack on thousands of hardworking businesspeople across this State.

"Like all reasonable employers, the Nationals and Liberals supports safe workplaces for all employees, fair compensation for workplace injuries, and penalties for breaches.

"I urge all businesses to attend and become more informed on the nature of this legislation and its implications," concluded Thomas George.
