FAR NORTH COAST COMMUNITY MUST BE REMEMBERED IN NEXT WEEK'S BUDGET

1 June 2006

Nationals Member for Lismore Thomas George today called on the State Treasurer to remember Far North Coast communities in next Tuesday's Budget.

"There are many projects across the Lismore Electorate requiring additional or new funding," Mr George said.

"Since the last election I have been bringing these important local projects to the Treasurer's attention. Next Tuesday's Budget is his chance to deliver," he said.

Mr George will particularly look for the Iemma Government's support for the following projects;
Stage 3 of the Lismore Base Hospital redevelopment
Increased and additional funding for schools to assist with major and minor upgrades,
A commitment to reinstate passenger services on the Casino to Murwillumbah rail line,
15 extra police for the Richmond Local Area Command,
the Woodenbong to Legume Road, Summerland Way & Bruxner Highway;
Financial assistance for country halls and showgrounds;
Urgent funding increases for preschools;
Increases in funding for dental health services

"The Lismore Electorate will certainly be looking for support for these projects and once again I call on the Iemma Government to provide much needed infrastructure and capital assistance," Mr George concluded.
