Remembering The ‘Real’ Christmas

01 December 2006

Member for Lismore, Thomas George, today urged people to remember the real reason for the Christmas Festive Season.

“Christmas is a Christian holiday marking the birth of Jesus Christmas. It is part of Australia’s heritage and culture, so Christmas is an important day for all Australians,” Mr George said.

“I’m urging people to take a moment to recognise the true meaning of Christmas. It’s not only a wonderful time to celebrate with family and friends, it’s also an opportunity to focus on spiritual matters.”

Mr George also urged everyone to take care on the roads.

“Road safety must be the priority for all motorists and I would remind drivers to be conscious of speed limits and road conditions, take adequate rest breaks to avoid fatigue and be aware at all times of the actions of other drivers,” Mr George said.

“All drivers need to drive responsibly on NSW roads this Christmas break and to take care when behind the wheel,” said Mr George.

“Most importantly, I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy and successful 2007.”
