$66,250 for 6 Lismore Electorate Sporting Organisations

Thomas George, National Party Member for Lismore has welcomed the funding announcement by the Minister for Tourism and Sport and Recreation, The Hon Graham West, of six Lismore electorate sporting organisations that will benefit from $66,250 allocated under the 2007/2008 Capital Assistance Program.
“This program is one of the most important avenues of assistance for local sporting organisations. It will assist with the enhancement and future development of community sporting and recreational facilities in this area.2>
The following projects to benefit from this year’s funding are:
$9,000 Richmond River Gun Club Inc for the upgrade of trap and improvement of disabled access,
$15,000 refurbishment of canteen and provision of storage facilities at Riverview Park,
$7,000 Lismore Rowing Club Inc for the provision of a septic system,
$7,000 Dunoon & District Sports and Recreation Club for the laying of synthetic grass on tennis court,
$8,700 Far North Coast Canoe Club for the upgrade of show and change rooms, and
$19,550 Lismore Swans Australian Football Club Incorporated for the provision of lighting.
The specific aim of the program is to work in partnership with the general sporting community and to support those groups who have shown they are prepared to help themselves.
“The provision of these funds is an integral part of recognising the importance of regional recreational facilities in supporting and encouraging a healthy and safe lifestyle for the rural people of NSW” Mr George concluded.
