NATIONALS MPs WELCOME SHADOW CABINET TO THE NORTH COAST
Nationals MPs welcome Shadow Cabinet to the North Coast
07 March 2008
The four North Coast Nationals State MPs will bring the Shadow Cabinet to the North Coast at Banora Point on Thursday 13 March for meetings with community leaders and participation in community events.
Host MP Geoff Provest said it would give Opposition Leader Barry O’Farrell and his team a chance to hear the concerns of locals.
“The meetings will be at the Salvos Family Centre in Banora Point. The Shadow Ministers will start with their formal Cabinet meeting before we break up and listen to local community reps,” Mr Provest said.
Mr O’Farrell, Nationals Leader Andrew Stoner and other Coalition spokespeople will then hold a lunch for community leaders before the whole team dons Salvation Army gear and solicits donations for the Salvos at local shopping centres ahead of the May Red Shield Appeal.
Thomas George (Lismore), Don Page (Ballina) and Steve Cansdell (Clarence) will bring stakeholders from their electorates to meet relevant Shadow Ministers.
Ballina Nationals MP Don Page who is also Shadow Minister for the North Coast said the regional Nationals team approach was the best way of ensuring the alternative government fully understood local issues.
Lismore Nationals MP Thomas George said the Labor’s neglect of Murwillumbah Hospital in his electorate would be discussed with Shadow Health Minister Jillian Skinner.
Steve Cansdell MP, representing the Clarence and Richmond valleys, said the top issues for his constituents were also hospitals as well as law and order and roads.
