GEORGE ADVISES COMMUNITY ON DRAFT GUIDELINES SUPPORTED ACCOMMODATION
George advises community on draft guidelines for Supported Accommodation
27 August 2008
Thomas George MP, Member for Lismore today advised that the government has recently developed a new draft policy titled “Allocation of places in Supported Accommodation: Policy and Procedures Manual”.
Mr George said these draft guidelines are designed to replace the existing policy. They include a number of provisions and changes, including the creation of one central register of people requesting accommodation in NSW and people will be able to apply for services in more than one region.
“DADHC has also developed a draft Maintaining Respite Capacity policy, which seeks to increase the number of available respite places in NSW by ensuring the people with a disability are able to move into more appropriate permanent accommodation.
“Both policies have been released for public consultation and DADHC is seeking feedback, in particular people and organisations with an interest in accommodation services for people with a disability. Once the 6-week consultation period is complete, a round table will be held to discuss the key areas of the policies and major themes arising from the consultation period,” said Mr George.
“Executive summaries of the two drafts are available from my office and submissions should be provided by 12 September 2008 either via email at email@example.com via post to Placement Policy Feedback, Accommodation, Policy and Development Directorate, DADHC Level 5, 83 Clarence Street, Sydney NSW 2000” Mr George concluded.
