NSW LIBS/NATS TO RESTORE FREE STUDENT TRAVEL IN LISMORE ELECTORATE

NSW LIBS/NATS TO RESTORE FREE STUDENT TRAVEL IN LISMORE ELECTORATE

13 November 2008

The Nationals Member for Lismore, Thomas George today committed to over turning the Rees Labor Government for its cuts to the Student Transport Subsidy Scheme.

“The NSW Liberal/Nationals Coalition will restore free travel for school children across NSW,” Mr George said.

Mr George said the axing of free school student transport was a bad decision because:

“This decision will affect hard working families across NSW, with many now having to pay up to $180 a year to transport their children to and from school.

“The NSW Liberal/Nationals will restore free travel for school children across NSW. This will ease the burden on hard working families.

“Nathan Rees is clearly out of touch with people of NSW.

“The Rees Government is slugging parents with tax hikes at a time when families are struggling to cope with the rising costs of living and the uncertainty of the global economic crisis.

“It is time to send the Nathan Rees a message that hard working families should not be forced to wear the consequences of 13 years of Labor’s incompetence and mismanagement.

“To lodge your protest against the Rees Government’s harsh cuts, sign the online petition now at www.savestudenttravel.com.au,” Mr George said.
