Thomas George, Nationals Member for Lismore today will be signing the “Keep Our Cops” Campaign petition and encouraging the local community to join with him and sign the online petition.

“This petition is an important message outlining the Opposition’s support for the Police and the need for them to be well paid for the vital role they undertake in protecting our community.

“Far too often when I speak with community members they express their frustration at the failure of the Rees Labor State Government to provide NSW Police with the resources and support they need to protect our neighbourhoods. It is a minority who are responsible for committing a majority of crime and Police simply do not have the resources and powers to tackle this crime. We have to return to Police the power to protect our community,” stated Mr George.

The NSW Liberal/Nationals Coalition has been aware for some time of the expiration of the current wages agreement in the middle of this year.

After 14 years of Government Labor is out of touch and has the wrong priorities.

The Liberal/Nationals believe that policing is a critical State service that should be above politics. We are putting forward positive, practical plans to put NSW back on track.

“I want to see experienced Police given the incentive to get out there and lock up crooks.

“I am pleased to be signing the Keep Our Cops petition, encouraging our local Police and I call on the community to get involved and convey their support by doing signing the petition as well,” Mr George concluded.
