Nationals Member for Lismore, Thomas George MP today encouraged ambitious and enthusiastic young achievers who represent all aspects of the local rural community to apply for the 2010 RAS Rural Achiever Award.

The RAS Rural Achiever Award is a statewide leadership program run by the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW (RAS) to recognise future leaders who are working hard to make a significant contribution to their local community and to rural Australia.

“This is a unique opportunity for personal growth and the development of professional skills, knowledge and networks needed to be effective in regional, state, national and international arenas,” Mr George said.

“The award is really a chance to challenge yourself. Many past Rural Achievers are now employed in key agri-business careers and work on successful properties thanks to the networking opportunities, media attention and prizes they received,” he said.

If chosen to be one of eight Rural Achievers for 2010, each finalist will receive an all expenses paid, behind the scenes experience at the Sydney Royal Easter Show, invitations to official functions, including a cocktail reception at Government House, an Akubra hat, $1000 prize money and much more.

The competition entries will be accepted until Friday, 6 November 2009 – so apply online today. To enter, visit
