LISMORE CONFERENCE SEEKS IMPROVED OUTCOMES FOR CHILDREN

9 November 2009

Nationals Member for Lismore Thomas George has praised Southern Cross University’s Centre for Children and Young People for holding an innovative conference aimed at creating safe and respectful communities for children.

The conference titled “Where Every Child is Somebody: Communities of Respect for Children, Young People and their Families", will be held on 12 November, coinciding with the twentieth anniversary of the signing of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Mr George said local community leaders, public servants, business leaders and representatives of the Indigenous community would join nationally recognised childhood experts.

“There is nothing more precious than the future of our children, so this is a very worthwhile initiative,” Mr George said.
