NATIONAL VOLUNTEERS WEEK – A SMALL WAY TO SAY THANK YOU

NATIONAL VOLUNTEERS WEEK – A SMALL WAY TO SAY THANK YOU

11 May 2010

Thomas George, Nationals Member for Lismore, today paid tribute to and congratulated the work volunteers tirelessly contribute to communities across New South Wales

“National Volunteer Week recognises just how much volunteers selflessly give to not only their own communities but to the State.

“Daily volunteers are engaged in a vast range of activities from delivering meals on wheels, taking those less able to doctors, reading in libraries, fighting fires, evacuating people and livestock and risking their lives to help others.

“I am always continually amazed at just how unselfish our volunteers are right across this State,’’ he said.

“I see and speak to so many people giving their time simply in the best interests of their communities, involving so many different events and purposes and it makes me very proud to be a New South Welshman.

“On behalf of the Lismore electorate, I would like to offer our thanks and well done to the many thousands of volunteers who do such a wonderful job for their communities.

“National Volunteer Week runs until Sunday right across Australia – take the time to say thank you and if you can, why not join their ranks,” Mr George concluded.
