One of the great benefits of living on the Far North Coast is our proximity to some of the tastiest and freshest food in the country. Many of our local food products have received national recognition and some are sought after worldwide.
At a recent showcase of regional produce held by the Nationals in Sydney during Country Week, the area had the opportunity to show off some of its best produce including, local beef, macadamias, tea and coffee just to name a few.
Country Week is held each year in Sydney, and provides the opportunity for shires throughout regional and rural NSW to sell the benefits of living and working in country communities. This year’s theme was ‘Live & Work in Regional NSW’.
Not only does Country Week show city people the huge benefits of country NSW, it also provides an opportunity to demonstrate to the current State Labor Government the need for more jobs, services and facilities in regional areas like the Far North Coast.
It is common sense, that the development of regional areas is important especially as increasing populations continue to place pressure on cities like Sydney.
It is through events such as Country Week, which is a great success, that we’re able to show the rest of the state the benefits of living in regional areas.
I am continually impressed by the innovation, drive and achievements of local agricultural producers and encourage anyone interested in participating in next year’s Country Week, to contact my office over the next year.
