Kyogle Resident- Lismore Electorate Woman of the Year Kyogle’s community spirit has again shone through with local resident, Cath Kennedy being awarded Lismore Electorate Woman of the Year. Cath was nominated by the Quota Club of Kyogle who describe her as a quiet achiever, whose diligence is enjoyed and appreciated by those she helps.

Cath’s volunteer commitments include visiting hospital patients in Kyogle Court, donating knitted products to charities for children and humanitarian ventures, helping at the Lismore Soup Kitchen, Lifeline and the Anglicare Op Shop, putting together baby packs for New Guinea and assisting at the Women’s Refuge.

All nominees were honoured at an appreciation morning tea with nominators and friends last week. The morning tea was a terrific opportunity to recognise, congratulate and thank those who have contributed immensely to the benefit of our whole community.

The nominees included; Mary Harmon, Janet Clifford, Linda Grudnoff, Patricia Offord, Thelma Chossier, Bernadette Daley, Lorraine Vass, Cathy Harris, Shirley Oag, Betty Morton, Irene Harrington, Jenny Dowell, Cath Kennedy & Patsy Nagas.

Opportunity for Kyogle Residents to access Cheaper Transport Transport discounts previously only available to city residents have now been extended to Kyogle seniors and pensioners. There has been much confusion in the community about the availability of regional discount bus tickets and I have now been able to confirm that a discount transport ticket has been made available to local pensioners and seniors.

The discounts called Regional Excursion Daily (RED) tickets will allow eligible seniors and pensioners to purchase a $2.50 all day, multi-ride bus ticket. This means travellers can transfer between interconnecting contracted regular route bus services without paying an extra fare. The RED ticket is available on buses provided under Rural and Regional Bus Service Contract B, but not on the Countrylink coach/rail service.

The ticket is available to people holding; Pensioner Concession Cards issued by Centrelink or the Department of Veterans Affairs, Seniors Cards or a War Widower Card.
