PARENTING HELPLINE CAN HELP

PARENTING HELPLINE CAN HELP

8 June 2010

The Nationals Member for Lismore Thomas George is urging local parents to make use of Parent Line the NSW Government parenting helpline operated by CatholicCare.

Mr George said their website was launched recently and it is a great resource for parents to use as it covers common parenting problems like communicating and negotiating with teenagers, teenagers running away and child development.

There is a great deal of advice and tips created by counsellors, it has advice and details about other parentís experiences and it includes links to other parenting resources around the state.

Recent statistics show that parents in rural and remote areas are three times less likely to seek help for their parenting issues than their city counterparts.

Parents in country areas need to call for assistance before a crisis has occurred or the problem can become too overwhelming. Itís important to call early on and no issue is too small to seek advice on.

Mr George says Parents can call Parent Line on 1300 130052 or visit the new website www.parentline.org.au
