GEORGE GAGGED BY LABOR GOVERNMENT ON LISMORE HEALTH

GEORGE GAGGED BY LABOR GOVERNMENT ON LISMORE HEALTH

I am extremely disappointed that Minister Steve Whan and Member for Kiama Matt Brown gagged me in Parliament during a debate on Rural & Regional Health in NSW.

I intended to raise my frustration with the NSW Government after they failed to deliver additional funds in the 2010-11 NSW Budget for Stage 3 of Lismore Base Hospital.

The health concerns of the people of the Northern Rivers were completely bypassed by NSW Labor in the Budget.

The health needs of the people of my electorate are serious. To have been silenced by these two Labor Members during a debate in Parliament on rural and regional health is unparliamentary, even of this incompetent Labor Government.

These actions indicate that NSW Laborís credibility has hit rock bottom.

RURAL AND REGIONAL HEALTH Motion Accorded Priority

Mr MATT BROWN (Kiama) [3.55 p.m.]: I move:

That this House:

(1) congratulates the Government for committing over $4.4 billion in health funding to regional and rural New South Wales in the budget; and

(2) notes that the record spending on health in this budget follows the New South Wales Government's historic agreement with the Commonwealth on health reform.v

(please note 5 Members spoke prior to this)

Mr THOMAS GEORGE: I seek leave to speak to the motion.

Leave not granted.
