Members of local non-profit organisations should be aware of new legislation being introduced next month, Nationals Member for Lismore Thomas George said today.

The Associations Incorporation Act 2009 and Associations Incorporation Regulation 2010, which commence July 1 aims to make it easier for associations to manage their affairs by modernising the law, reducing red tape and allowing more flexibility.

There will also be stronger protection of association finances to protect members and the public.
