RIRDC RURAL WOMEN’S AWARD CALLS FOR APPLICATIONS

Thomas George, the Nationals’ Member for Lismore welcomes nominations for the RIRDC (Rural Industries Research & Development Coordination) Rural Women’s Award, which opened recently.

Mr George encouraged women in the Lismore electorate who are involved in agriculture, including fisheries, forestry, natural resource management and related service industries to nominate.

“The RIRDC Rural Women’s award is designed to recognise and encourage the vital contribution women make to rural Australia.

“The award is opened to women of all ages who have contributed to primary industries, resource development in rural Australia.

“The award is an opportunity to acknowledge past performances but focuses on future achievements and contributions to rural Australia.

"$10,000 is available for each of seven state and territory winners. Applicants are able to use the bursary to develop their leadership and business management skills or their knowledge of innovations, industries and markets,” Mr George said.

Applications for the 2011 award opened on August 1 2010 and close 15 October 2010.
