THANK A VOLUNTEER YOU KNOW WITH A NOMINATION

20 August 2010

Nominations are now open for the 2010 NSW Volunteer of the Year Award, Nationals Member for Lismore Thomas George announced today.

The NSW Volunteer of the Year Award recognises the outstanding efforts of the 2.4 million volunteers in NSW and promotes the importance of volunteering to the community.

State Winners will be presented with their Award by the Minister for Volunteering at an Award Ceremony at Parliament House Sydney, 3 December.

Nominations can be made online at www.nswvolunteerawards.com and are open until 30 September 2010.

Even if your volunteer has been nominated before, but was not a Regional or State Winner in the year of nomination, you are welcome to renominate them for this year’s Award. To simplify re-nominations, you can re-submit your previous nomination form this year.

You can also add information to the nomination to update what your nominee has been doing over the past 12 months. Again this can be submitted via website (www.nswvolunteerawards.com) or the post.

“These awards are a great way to celebrate and thank our fabulous volunteers for the important work they do,” said Mr George.

“I strongly encourage you to nominate a volunteer you know.”
