12 October 2010

St Carthage's Community Care has received $5,000 funding under the 2010/2011 Positive Ageing Grants program, said the Nationals Member for Lismore, Thomas George MP.

Mr George said he congratulated the St Carthage's Community Care on it's successful submission for funding.

"The St Cartage's Community Care do wonderful work for the community and I'm pleased the $5,000 will be put to good use in the Lismore area", said Mr George.

Positive ageing is about enhancing the quality of life for older people so that they can maintain their independence and remain active socially connected and engaged as they age.

Mr George said the Ageing, Disability and Home Care (ADHC) department's assessment panels have allocated the funding to support positive ageing initiatives.

Of the 173 applications 51 projects were successful in receiving funding.
