GEORGE WELCOMES NSW WOMAN OF THE YEAR AWARD NOMINATIONS

20 October 2010

The Nationals Member for Lismore, Thomas George MP, has today welcomed the announcement that the 2011 NSW Woman of the Year Awards are now open.

The annual Award which is held as part of International Women’s Day, will see State Ministers and State Members each nominate one worthy woman who best fits the selection criteria.

“The Woman of the Year should have made a significant contribution to the community which has resulted in progress for NSW women or girls while motivating others to challenge themselves and make their own contributions,” Mr George said.

“I am seeking the assistance of the community to put forward the names of women in the Lismore electorate who they think fit the criteria and have played an important role to their chosen field. I encourage you to nominate them for this prestigious award.”

Mr George said all nominees would be invited to a presentation function in February 2011 to announce the Lismore Electorate Woman of the Year.

“The winner will be presented with an award and receive an invitation to attend the Premier’s Reception for International Women’s Day on 8 March 2011 (alongside other winners from across NSW) where the NSW Woman of the Year will be announced.”

Mr George said nomination forms can be obtained from my office on 66213624 or lismore@parliament.nsw.gov.au. The closing date is Friday 26 November 2010.
