Would you know how to save a life in an emergency situation … who to call, what to do?

It could be a confronting situation, so having knowledge of emergency procedure could make all the difference.

Nationals Member for Lismore Thomas George has produced an informative booklet titled Coping In An Emergency to be delivered to every household in the electorate this week.

It contains various information on preparations for flood and bush fire emergencies and also has a resuscitation chart with the latest techniques and advice.

Mr George said the booklet provided important local information and offered sensible advice on what to do if an emergency occurred.

There is also a list of contact numbers and websites to contact in times of emergencies.

"The booklet contains some essential information which will be invaluable in an emergency situation,” Mr George said.

"Knowing how to perform CPR is a great skill … I would urge everyone to investigate doing some kind of first aid course.

“No-one wants to ever be in the position to have to revive someone but knowing the correct procedure could save a life.”

Mr George urged everyone to keep their copy of the booklet handy for future reference and take the time to share the information with family members.

“It’s that time of year when we all like to enjoy the outdoors with family and friends… with some preparation and planning we can all enjoy a happy and safe festive season,” Mr George said.
