LISMORE GETS ITS SHARE OF THE $35 MILLION COMMUNITY BUILDING PARTNERSHIPS PROGRAM
Nationals Member for Lismore Thomas George has welcomed the announcement of funding for local projects under the NSW Government’s Community Building Partnership program.
Mr George said he was delighted the NSW Premier Barry O’Farrell today announced the roll out of $35 million for 1424 community projects throughout the state.
Across NSW funding requests exceeded $152 million, a significant increase over the $118 million sought in the previous program.
"The Lismore electorate has 22 projects that will receive funding, making a great impact on the day to day lives of our communities.
“Local construction and trades jobs and local businesses stand to benefit from the activity as community infrastructure is built, refurbished or enhanced.
“There was strong competition for the available funds and a high level of interest from the community with over $2.5m worth of projects applying for the available $400,000."
“I look forward to seeing the benefits to our communities as projects are undertaken and more importantly put into use across the region," Mr George said.
