LARGEST REGIONAL NSW TOURISM PROMOTION IN STATE’S HISTORY
North Coast Nationals MPs today welcomed the announcement by Premier Barry O’Farrell of the largest regional NSW tourism promotion of its kind with the goal of encouraging Sydneysiders to holiday in regional NSW.
The campaign, designed by Destination NSW, the State Government’s tourism and major events agency, entices potential visitors to the regions with the offer of $1 million worth of $200 discount accommodation vouchers (there are 5,000 vouchers to be won).
“The $1 million regional NSW giveaway promotion launched on 18 July is a shot in the arm for regional tourism.
“This is an exciting initiative that will be a win-win for travellers and tourism operators in country NSW," Mr George said
“With the potential to pump more than 10,000 room nights into rural NSW, the promotion is a great idea that will keep this vital industry at the forefront of the economy.
“This will be a great incentive to encourage holidaymakers in the city to get out into the regions and experience the wonders of country NSW”, Mr Provest said.
Destination NSW has partnered with Westfield in the promotion at eight of Sydney’s Westfield Shopping Centres. Shoppers over 18 years of age, who purchase items valued at $30 or more have the chance to win a $200 discount accommodation voucher towards accommodation for a short break in regional NSW.
Winners can choose to redeem their $200 from hundreds of participating accommodation partners offering short breaks deals on the Destination NSW website. Consumers can also enter a competition to win one of three accommodation prize packages worth $1,000 each.
"The Northern Rivers region contributed $1,163 million to the State’s visitor economy in 2011-12 and this initiative will help boost that figure, grow confidence in the sector and create jobs.
"This promotion demonstrates the Government’s determination to boost tourism to regional NSW as a key component in its aim to double the State’s visitor economy by 2020," Mr Gulaptis said
