NSW GOVERNMENT LOOKING FOR YOUNG ADVISORS
The NSW Government is looking for smart and switched on young people who want to help tackle the issues facing their generation, Nationals Member for Lismore Thomas George said today.
Applications are now open for 2013 membership of the NSW Youth Advisory Council.
“The NSW Youth Advisory Council is one of the most effective ways for young people to be involved in government decision making,” said Mr George.
“The 12 member council provides a direct avenue of communication between young people and the NSW Government.
“Their unique insights, opinions and advice assist in the development of youth-related policies and programs.
“The council meets regularly throughout the year to discuss a range of relevant topics, as well as monitoring and evaluating policy and legislation which affects young people,” Mr George said.
Council members come from all over the State and are broadly representative of the diversity of young people living in NSW.
Young people aged 12 to 25 with experience in youth and community organisations are encouraged to apply for membership.
“The Youth Advisory Council plays an important role in guiding NSW Government youth affairs and raising the views of young people,” Mr George said.
Information and application forms are available at www.youth.nsw.gov.au or email firstname.lastname@example.org. The closing date for applications is Monday, 29 October 2012 at 5pm. Appointments will be announced in early 2013
