GEORGE CONGRATULATES LOCAL ATTENDEE OF EARLY CHILDHOOD CONFERENCE
Nationals Member for Lismore Thomas George MP has congratulated Lynette Funnell, a local early childhood teacher at Lismore Community Preschool, who attended a conference in Sydney last week about improving the quality of Early Childhood Education and Care.
Mr George said that Mrs Funnell was one of 14 teachers across the state who were recipients of scholarships of up to $2000 to attend the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority’s (ACECQA) National Quality Framework Conference.
“It’s wonderful to see people from regional areas, represented at conferences like these. I congratulate Mrs Funnell on her successful application and being able to attend the conference,” Mr George said.
“Improving the quality of Early Childhood Education and Care is important to the NSW Government, and the ACECQA’s conference brought together educators, peak bodies, regulatory authorities and policy makers to the National Quality Framework for Early Childhood Education and Care.
“The introduction of the National Quality Framework as a result of an agreement between all Australian Governments in 2012 brought about significant changes for the Early Childhood Education sector, and it is important that educators from regional areas have the opportunity to hear how other Early Childhood Education providers have adapted to this change.
“I would like to thank the numerous sponsors who made the scholarships possible, because without their help many of the participants from regional areas simply may not have attended,” Mr George said.
The Education Minister Adrian Piccoli also addressed the conference, held on Wednesday 12 September.
