LOCALS AWARDED NSW ANNUAL ARTS GRANT
Nationals Member for Lismore Thomas George congratulates Lismore Regional Art Gallery and Northern Rivers Performing Arts Inc (NORPA) on its successful application for funding support under NSW’s Arts Funding Program (AFP).
Mr George said the NSW Government has approved a $60,000 grant to the Art Gallery and $250,000 grant to NORPA.
- Lismore Regional Gallery, $60,000 to Lismore City Council to support the gallery’s 2014 program which will mark its 60th anniversary in the region. The program includes projects working with young people and artists with disability. The anniversary project will follow a community participatory approach to imagining Lismore 60 years in the future.
- NORPA, $250,000 to support the NORPA GENERATOR program which creates new work, facilitates unique collaborations between local, professional and emerging artists, and develops strategic partnerships to realise community cultural initiatives.
“These funds will contribute to the costs for delivering their principal annual program of activities, stimulating local arts and cultural development.
“The grants support activities that benefit people working in the creative industries and encourage the community to become more engaged with arts and cultural experiences,” Mr George said.
The Arts Funding Program (AFP) supports a diverse range of activities focusing on live and online audience development and participation, and the capacity to nurture artist creativity and development.
“Through this program we are ensuring that NSW remains a global centre for creativity and innovation, particularly by supporting future generations of artists,” Mr George said.
“This support contributes to the profile of NSW as the cultural and creative capital of Australia and provides new opportunities for the people of NSW to participate in arts and cultural activities.”
