LISMORE ELECTORATE GIVEN A SPORTING CHANCE THANKS TO NSW GOVERNMENT FUNDING
Nationals Member for Lismore Thomas George MP has announced five local projects will receive over $106,000 in NSW Government funding.
Mr George said “I am delighted to announce funding for grassroots sport in our local community.”
Kyogle Council $25,000 to upgrade facilities at Don Gully Oval
Lismore Swans AFL Club $21,560 for a change room facility
Lismore City Council $25,000 for a multi-sport surface renewal at Crozier Field
Tweed Shire Council $25,000 a new netball court at Knox Park
Lismore PCYC $9,680 for the Judo Mat Project
“This funding will reduce barriers to participation and make sport more accessible, which in turns encourages more people from across the electorate to get active and healthy through sport.
“By improving the grassroots infrastructure, the NSW Government is also helping to strengthen our local community through sport,” Mr George said.
Mr George added the funding was part of the NSW Government’s Participation and Facility Program which assists grassroots organisations improve local sporting facilities as well as encouraging people to get involved in recreational activities.
“I would encourage sporting groups and councils who are considering improving local sporting facilities or starting a new program aimed at increasing participation to apply now for Round Two of the program before applications close on 2 April.”
