GOVERNMENT FUNDING AVAILABLE TO SUPPORT EVENTS
Nationals Member for Lismore, Thomas George MP, today announced the State Government’s Sport and Recreation Events Program (SREP) is open for applications from 5 November 2014 to 30 January 2015.
“The government is committed to helping athletes, officials and coaches develop their skills through participation in sport,” said Mr George
“Programs like SREP are immensely important in bringing bigger and better sporting events to local communities and to NSW.
“I encourage local organisations to make use of this fantastic opportunity and get applications in before the end of January,” Mr George said.
The SREP is open to sports organisations looking to stage international, national or community events throughout NSW in 2015.
The SREP is a competitive grant program with applications assessed against the following criteria:
- the relevant project objective;
- the need for the event;
- the capacity of the organisation to deliver the event;
- the budget is cost effective; and
- the benefit of the event in the long and short term.
Under the SREP eligible organisations may apply for multiple event types, however the maximum available to any one organisation under the program is $30,000 in a financial year.
Grants are capped at:
- $30,000 for international sporting events;
- $15,000 for national championships; and
- $10,000 for community events.
Applicants must also contribute 50% or more to the staging of the event, which may include “in kind” support.
