DOUBLE PAYMENTS HELPS KYOGLE WITH FLOOD CLEAN UP
Minister for Finance and Services, Dominic Perrottet and the Member for Lismore, Thomas George, today announced two payments totalling $52,038 to Kyogle Council.
Mr Perrottet said the money would reimburse the council for repairs to assets damaged by floods in January 2013 ($5,600) and February 2013 ($46,438).
“The NSW Government is committed to supporting councils and communities affected by the floods with financial assistance for public works,” Mr Perrottet said.
“Through the Natural Disasters Relief Assistance program (NDRA) councils are eligible to be reimbursed for costs associated with to restoring and rebuild public assets as a result of floods, storms and bushfires.”
Mr George welcomed the announcement.
“Rebuilding after such a devastating event is difficult and it is crucial that funds are made available to communities to restore public areas to their pre-flood condition,” Mr George said.
Mr Perrottet said the local government assets component of the natural disaster relief arrangements is administered by NSW Public Works, a division of the Office of Finance and Services.
“In the last three years, the NDRA Program has provided more than $37 million in financial assistance to local governments for the restoration of eligible council assets damaged by declared natural disasters,” he said.
