Businesses have been invited to attend workshops organised by the NSW Government to take advantage of the surge in visitors and sporting events to the North Coast during the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast.

Member for Lismore said a regional workshop would be held on Tuesday January 27 in Murwillumbah.

“There will be plenty of athletes seeking to win at the Commonwealth Games but also many businesses hoping to come out in front with a slice of millions of dollars’ worth of supplies and services, Mr George said.

“With tens of thousands of spectators, competitors and technical staff, there will be supplier opportunities for everything from sign writing to food, refrigeration, sporting equipment, publicity, catering, kitchen staff, cleaning, security and dozens more.

“This is a chance for regional NSW businesses to show they can snatch gold from international businesses when it comes to providing world class goods and services.

“These Government workshops will provide an overview of everything a potential supplier needs to know about the tendering process for these games.

“The workshops will also provide useful ongoing knowledge for companies that want to tender regularly for Government business.”

NSW Trade & Investment and marketing company QMI Solutions are staging the workshops, which will include presentations from Industry Capability Network (ICN).

The workshop schedule is:

Murwillumbah - Canvas and Kettle Room, Tweed Shire Civic Centre, Tumbulgum Rd - January 27 (9am-2pm)
