$25 MILLION MOBILE BLACK SPOT INVESTMENT FOR REGIONAL COMMUNITIES
Nationals Member for Lismore, Thomas George MP, today welcomed the $25 million contribution from the NSW Government towards the Commonwealth’s $100m Mobile Black Spot Programme.
The State Government is partnering with the Commonwealth and telecommunication carriers to invest tens of millions of dollars into mobile communication infrastructure in regional NSW to help families, businesses and emergency services connect.
The NSW Government is delivering more reliable services for regional communities to improve network infrastructure.
“We are providing high quality mobile voice and wireless broadband services to enable our public safety agencies and regional communities to better communicate with one another.
“In the election we promised regional NSW would not have to worry about the stress and hassle associated with mobile black spots, which are costly and inefficient,” Mr George said.
Under the agreement the NSW Government will work closely with the Commonwealth Government and telecommunication carriers to ensure regional communities enjoy better mobile phone access.
“There are many areas within my electorate where mobile coverage is scant or non-existent and I will be making representations to ensure these communities are seriously considered in the funding process,” Mr George said.
