Nationals Member for Lismore Thomas George today announced funding for three local organisations for NAIDOC Week event.

Mr George said NAIDOC Week, which will run from 5-12 July, is an opportunity to recognise and celebrate Aboriginal culture.

The following organisations will receive assistance to undertake events

Mr George said the grants would foster community involvement in NAIDOC by both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal members of the Electorate.

“NAIDOC Week is an opportunity for all Australians to come together and celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture,” Mr George said.

In 2015, the NSW Government has provided $125,000 to support over 100 NAIDOC Week events across the State.

The national NAIDOC theme for 2015 is – ‘We all Stand on Sacred Ground: Learn, Respect and Celebrate’. This year the theme highlights Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ strong spiritual and cultural connection to land and sea. For more information, see
