FUNDING TO IMPROVE SAFETY ON LISMORE ROADS
In a win for road users around Lismore, nearly $2.2m in NSW Government funding has been allocated in the 2015-16 Budget for improvements to local and regional roads through the Safer Roads Program, Nationals Member for Lismore Thomas George announced today.
“This is part of the NSW Government’s 2015-16 record road safety budget of $307 million, made up of State and Federal contributions,” Mr George said.
“Locally the program will fund upgrades at the following intersections –
Nimbin & Rosehill Roads, Blakebrook
Nimbin & Bishops Creek Roads, Coffee Camp
Wyrallah Road & Mathieson Lane, Tucki Tucki
Tuntable Falls & Blue Knob Roads, Nimbin
“Generally projects approved under this program are lower cost improvements which can be delivered quickly to provide greater safety for all road users in local communities.
“That is, local communities like ours. I was thrilled to hear about the funding we were allocated.
"These important road safety projects will be delivered in partnership with Lismore City Council.
“Planning work can now start and improvements will be delivered as soon as possible,”
“The funding is part of the NSW Road Safety Strategy which aims to reduce the number and severity of crashes on NSW roads.”
