NEW TOURISM INVESTMENT FOR TENTERFIELD VISITORS AND LOCALS
Tenterfield tourists and locals will benefit from the installation of electric barbecue facilities at the local War Memorial Baths thanks to funding from the NSW Government.
Member for Lismore Thomas George played a key role in organising the funding, and said the barbecue would generate even more interest in one of the town’s key attractions.
“This improvement to the War Memorial Baths will attract more people and will be a new selling point for tourists to visit Tenterfield,” Mr George said.
“The New England North West’s tourism industry provides strong support to the region’s economy with more than $723 million spent in the region by domestic visitors alone in the 12 months ending June 2015.
“This funding will also benefit local families that use the pool in the summer months and generate even greater patronage amongst locals.” He said.
Mr George said local families had been pushing for the barbecue facilities and would especially welcome the funding news.
“The timing of the funding coincides with celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Tenterfield War Memorial Baths on November 27 this year,” he said.
“This is another demonstration of the NSW Government’s commitment to not just the economic but social and health benefits of regional communities.”
