FUNDING TO INCREASE YOUTH OPPORTUNITIES
Member for Lismore Thomas George today announced $58,222 funding for local youth programs aimed at helping young people reach their full potential through activities that benefit their community.
RED Inc will receive $13,372 for The Living Resume Project and the Northern Rivers Youth Employment website and $44,850 for the Deaf Society of NSW to run a Deaf Youth Camp
“This is welcome news for the youth of electorate. These projects will help our future leaders engage further in our local community,” said Mr George.
“It’s everyone’s responsibility to ensure that our young people have the best opportunities in life. By supporting activities that encourage participation and development, we can achieve outcomes that benefit the whole community,” Mr George said.
the Youth Opportunities program is designed to reach out to young people from all backgrounds, particularly those on the margins, to help them overcome obstacles and achieve positive outcomes for themselves and their communities.
“Locally developed projects provide wonderful opportunities for our youth because local providers know what the community need.”
Since the program launched in 2012, more than $6.8 million has been allocated to 120 youth development projects. The latest projects will commence in 2016. More information about this year’s grants recipients can be found at www.youth.nsw.gov.au.
