While school students and staff were on holidays, the NSW Government has been working hard to ensure capital works and maintenance projects at nearly 500 public schools across the state are ready for the year ahead.

“Over the summer break work continues on projects to the value of around $220 million,” Mr George said.

“Twenty projects have been undertaken at 20 schools throughout the electorate while students and staff have been enjoying the summer holidays.

“With schools free of students and staff during the summer break, the holidays provided tradies and contractors the time they needed to make improvements, repairs and upgrade facilities.

“We want our students to have the best possible schools and we remain focused on ensuring improvements across the state continue to be made.”

Examples of minor works and maintenance at schools include: upgrading classrooms, painting, toilet upgrades and grounds improvements.

The schools benefiting from minor works and/or maintenance in Lismore are:

In addition Tenterfield High School and Murwillumbah High School will benefit from integration works scheduled for completion during the holidays in readiness for the new school year.

“This targeted funding will make our schools better places for students to learn and teachers to teach.”
