$360,000 AVAILABLE FOR NATIONAL PARK TOUR OPERATORS
Member for Lismore Thomas George & Member for Tweed Geoff Provest has invited private tour companies operating in Australia’s Green Cauldron to apply for a share in the National Park and Wildlife Service (NPWS) Commercial Tour Operator Small Grant Program.
Mr George said there was $360,000 in funding available over two rounds to support tour operators improve existing or develop new nature and cultural tourism experiences.
“These grants will help draw more visitors to this beautiful region, improve visitor experiences and build the local economy with a thriving eco-tourism market,” Mr George said.
Mr Provest said the NSW Government wants to provide new nature and cultural tourism experiences to support small park tourism operators and grow tourism in national parks.
“This program supports the contribution tourism makes to the NSW economy and promotes NSW’s world class visitor experiences,” Mr Provest said.
Under this program, eco-pass tour operators need to match the funding approved for any successful application. NPWS already licenses about 200 commercial operators, to provide visitor experiences in national parks.
Applications under this program close on 30 June 2016.
