Happy New Year to one and all. I look forward to keeping you up-to-date in relation to State issues during 2016.
Last week I was pleased to inspect the progress of Lismore Base Hospitalís redevelopment (Stages 3a-3b).
Stage 3a of the redevelopment includes a new emergency department, new emergency medical unit, emergency care fast track facilities, expanded medical imaging capacity, and new ambulance bay and drop off. It also includes a new renal dialysis unit and expansion space for the next stage of the redevelopment.
Work will also continue throughout 2016 on further stages of the redevelopment. This stage will involve additional stories being added to the southern tower, providing space for peri-operative, in-patient womenís care and paediatric services. A second tower, to the north of the new tower, will allow for the expansion of operating theatres, medical imaging and support areas.
Stage 3a is on schedule to be delivered by mid 2016.
The multi-storey carpark will also be completed in the next few months, providing much needed parking spaces for staff and visitors.
The $80.25 million Stage 3a works are funded by the NSW Government ($60.25 million) with a $20 million contribution from the Australian Governmentís Health and Hospitals Fund. The $9.27 million car park & $180 million Stage 3b redevelopment are funded by the NSW Government.
