Fee-free scholarships have been extended for young people (15-30 years) who are in, or have left, out-of-home care.
The scholarships fall under the NSW Governmentís Smart and Skilled initiative and provide people with the skills they need to find a secure career.
Fifty thousand scholarships are available each year, and the NSW Government will invest up to $1 million per year for fee-free scholarships for qualifications up to Certificate IV.
Young people can choose from more than 600 qualifications and those already enrolled in an eligible course can also apply for a fee-free scholarship.
Local communities dealing with the harmful impacts of the drug ice will get support through a series of public education forums targeting high need areas across NSW.
The Ďbreaking the ice in our communitiesí forums will help build and strengthen important community partnerships by bringing together local representatives from police, health services, youth services, Family Drug Support and local non-government drug and alcohol services.
The NSW Government will partner with the Australian Drug Foundation to deliver the forums with the first two sessions to be held in Tweed Heads and Wollongong.
Last year I also produced a brochure with lots of helpful information and contacts.
