HELPING MORE YOUNG PEOPLE INTO A JOB IN LISMORE ELECTORATE

Young people in the Lismore electorate now have a better opportunity to get a job as the Regional Vocational Education and Training Pathways program is rolled out in the region.

The NSW Government committed $8 million to supporting 15 to 19 year olds to find pathways into education, training and employment as part of the Reskilling NSW election commitment.

Thomas George Member for Lismore said Connect Northern Rivers Inc. with offices in Lismore and Tweed Heads has been chosen to provide training and employment services under the Program.

“Connect Northern Rivers Inc. will provide career mentoring, help young people get work experience and assist with the transition to training and employment, including apprenticeships and traineeships,” Mr George said.

The VET Regional Pathways program means young people in the Lismore electorate can get assistance in moving from school, into training or employment.

“The NSW Government continues to find new ways to help young people in regional NSW get the skills, to find a job and start a career.”

Minister for Regional Development, Skills and Small Business John Barilaro said the Regional VET Pathways Program will provide some of the most vulnerable young people in the community a chance for a better future.

“We are committed to providing support to young people in the North Coast Region,” Mr Barilaro said.

“The NSW Government continues to deliver support and training programs to those who need it most including 200,000 fee-free scholarships which are available for the disadvantaged and for young residents in social housing and out of home care.
