Northern Rivers Echo
Last week the Minister for Education Adrian Piccoli joined me at The Rivers College Kadina Campus to congratulate Matthew Rose, who has been awarded a STEM scholarship. Matthew is a local guy who attended Kadina, studied at SCU before returning to the school to teach PE. He is now retraining to specialise in mathematics.
We were also treated to a performance by the College Soul Band, who recently played in the showcase at Bluesfest. They were a very talented group of students.
In the lead up to ANZAC Day there are always a number of services taking place throughout the community. The Minister and I had the pleasure of attending the service at Tregeagle Public School and I also visited Blue Hills College.
Both schools had respectful and moving services paying tribute to the ANZACs.
Congratulations to Southern Cross University Football Centre who are partnering with Liverpool FC to deliver ongoing player development programs to youth across the North Coast & NSW.
This is huge win for Lismore. Well done to Centre General Manager Scott Collis on leading this partnership.
It was great today to meet with the newly appointed local Landcare coordinators. The NSW Government has provided $15 million statewide for coordinators to support the thousands of volunteers within the local networks.
Coordinators have been appointed to Tweed Landcare, Brunswick Valley Landcare, Border Ranges Richmond Valley Landcare, Richmond Landcare Inc & Upper Clarence Landcare.
Landcare NSW does a wonderful job throughout our electorate working to maintain, restore and rejuvenate the land and environment.
