GO FISHING DAY GRANTS NOW AVAILABLE
Nationals Member for Lismore Thomas George is urging recreational fishing clubs across the region to apply for grants to help run fishing activities on the second annual Go Fishing day, to be held on October 16 2016.
“There are currently around 850,000 people who love wetting a line each year in NSW and Go Fishing Day provides another opportunity to promote fishing as an enjoyable part of our lifestyle,” Mr George said.
“Fishing clubs are encouraged to apply for grants of up to $2,000 to run fishing activities on Go Fishing Day, such as casting and fishing workshops, information sessions and so on.
“Activities to restore fish habitat on the day are also eligible, such as replanting river and creek banks.”
The inaugural NSW Fishing Day was held last December and was a huge success.
The 2016 Go Fishing NSW Day will also coincide with the first–ever National Fishing Day being coordinated by the Australian Fishing Trade Association.
For more information or to get involved, fishing clubs can fill out the application form, which is available at www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/fisheries.
